Not surprisingly, small business owners list building their email list as an ongoing priority in their strategy to grow their businesses. According to Constant Contact’s “Growing Contacts, Growing Business” study, 57 percent of respondents say they are actively trying to grow their email contact lists “at all times.” Why do they care? Forty-four percent say the reason to grow email lists is to bolster repeat business; 39 percent cite customer relationship building; and 12 percent say they are seeking customer referrals. When asked how they get the email addresses, 64 percent of respondents said they ask customers for their contact information directly, while 92 percent collect email addresses via website forms.
